These.......
Took us here last night.
Because of this little guy.
Last night Matt and I came home to find Cosmo in his standard "I'm sorry position". Right away we knew we would find some splendid surpise. For example, usually when this happens we have left the bathroom door open and Cosmo has decided to have fun with my make up brushes or play with lovely soft toilet paper making his own paper decorations. However, after seeing what Cosmo had done, we would have gladly taken any of the above.
Next to Cosmo on the floor was not one, not two, but FIVE Reeses Mini Peanut Butter Cups wrappers. For those of you who don't know, yes, chocolate is poisonous to dogs; especially small dogs that only weigh 10 lbs.We found that he had delicately unwrapped 5 Reese's and devoured each and every one. So as we were trying to count how many he had actually eaten we noticed he was acting weird. First of all, he knew he is was in trouble and was hiding in the corner. To put the icing on the cake, he even took that moment to start peeing which is so unlike him. The next thing that followed is what really got the heart beat running. Everything before that was like, "Yeah he will be just fine". Following his little pee session he got really tense and was acting like he was paralyzed for a good 3-4 minutes. We're talking head flung back, legs not working, falling over kind of paralyzed. He wouldn't move or stand for anything. It was the weirdest thing. Matt was holding him and he looked completely dead to me so I was frantically running around trying to get a number to a vet clinic that would be open at 11 pm. We found one and headed over.
The first good sign was that the Vet didn't seem too concerned about Cosmo. All his vitals were normal and the whole rigor mortis thing was completely gone. She told us she was just going to give him some eye drops to make him throw up and then we could leave. We couldn't help but laugh as Cosmo was wagging his tail like the happiest puppy on the earth as she took him back to do the deed. How good does "little did he know" apply to this situation? He came out a few short minutes later and, thanks to all our blessings, would be able to go home with a happy healthy "Little Man". As for the Reeses, we definetely won't be keeping those around the house anymore (even if they are my favorite). It was quite a night, but hopefully we are all the better for it.
